Proposal

1. Proposal introduction (What)

- Provide a description of your proposal you wish to pitch and briefly explain how it will enhance the ICON Network.

Blockchain at Berkeley is at the forefront of university-based blockchain services. Established in 2016, we provide education to students on UC Berkeley’s campus and worldwide through our EdX course with 90k+ students with additional courses coming fall 2019. Additionally, we consult for Fortune-500 clients and work with core-developers on various blockchain projects. We also engage with our community by hosting community events and meetups. In October 2018 we co-hosted SF Blockchain Week where ICON was featured amongst ~5,000 attendees. ICON was a Title Sponsor throughout SFBW18 and we plan to grow ICON’s brand at SFBW19. Additionally, through our meetups, we can provide educational opportunities for new developers who will then be well equipped with the knowledge to build dapps that grow the network. We will have ICON featured on our website as we wish to engage with the community and demonstrate our commitment to growing the community as promising technologies emerge.

We are internationally recognized as an elite provider of blockchain knowledge because of our approach to driving innovation as a priority over profit. As a student-run company, our incentives are not to grow profits but rather to objectively provide the resources necessary to build the future of the blockchain industry.

2. Motivation of the proposal (Why)

- What brought you to become a P-Rep of ICON and what was the motivation for the proposal
above?

As our company grows, our members are constantly performing due-diligence on emerging trends and promising projects. ICON has been of great interest to several members because of their commitment to driving impactful innovation in the space and providing transparency every step of the way. By becoming a P-Rep, we believe that we can better engage the community and ensure network decisions are made to maintain the decentralized nature of the network while improving the network as new technologies develop. Because we are run entirely by students at UC Berkeley, we believe that we bring a unique perspective to the community to ensure that proper motivations are behind every single network decision. As a voice to Fortune-500 clients, we have earned the respect of the industry and will utilize it to maintain the ICON network.

3. Execution plan of the proposal (How)

- How would you actually carry out your proposal? Please elaborate related action items and
technical explanation.

We plan to engage both the local community through our events and member engagement, as well as through our various social media platforms which have over 20,000 members collectively. Our broad network allows us to reach more people than traditional organizations. Additionally, we are always adding new initiatives to our portfolio such as the recent launch of the Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator so we plan to integrate ICON in these new developments.

4. Expected timeline of the proposal (When)

- Provide specific milestones, expected the timeline to fulfill your proposal.

The 2nd Annual SF Blockchain Week will be hosted the final week of October 2019 in the Bay Area. It will feature the Crypto Economics and Security Conference , Berkeley Blockchain Career Fair, and a mainstream Epicenter conference designed to feature the latest technology and projects in this space.

We will have a page on our website, blockchain.berkeley.edu , which will feature ICON along with information that will direct visitors on how they can get involved in the project or learn about the decisions we make as a P-Rep.

Once the network launches, we will host an event (or a series of events) that gives community members the opportunity to build dapps with the support of ICON developers in-person.
