1-Services for Delegates

ICX Australia recognise that ICONists that trust us with their vote are at the core of our future success and we will:

  • Return 80% of our representative rewards proportionally and directly to our delegates.

  • Implement an automatic payment mechanism so our delegates get paid immediately.

  • Provide a client portal where our delegates can view details of their rewards and participate in on chain governance.

  • Use Kialo to explore on-chain proposals debates;

  • Represent our delegates in all on-chain proposals.

  • Report our block creation and validation performance on our website.

  • Provide delegate support through our ICX Australia Telegram page.

2-Community Expansion

Community forms the heart of every cryptocurrency project, and ICX Australia commits to expanding the ICON community both online and offline.

ICX Australia will build a community that is focused on providing users, developers and investors with useful and accurate information on the ICON project.

We will also provide ICONists the opportunity to earn more ICX by returning 10% of our representative rewards to the ICON community through bounty prizes and giveaways that expand the ICON community

This naturally collaborative environment will provide a strong foundation from which our community can continually grow.

In order to further stimulate the growth of a successful community, we will provide ICONists with additional opportunities to interact with their fellow ICONists through:

  • Organising regular Meet-Up events locally in Australia

  • Commiting to actively publish relevant content to ICON social media channels

  • Becoming a member of the Blockchain Center in both Adelaide and Melbourne, making ICON visible to thousands already engaged with blockchain technology.

  • Representing ICON to the existing blockchain communities in Australia.

All of our technical developments will be likewise be shared with the community. We will outsource the ICON port of our existing delegate client portal as well as make our automated payouts software and any other resultant software open source for other delegates to use.

3-Education & Support

In addition to our community focused reward structure, we will provide ICONists with access to a variety of education and support services to assist their journey as ICONists.

Part of ICX Australia, Cryptocate is a trusted Australian company that has dedicated their time to assisting individuals and businesses to better understand and use blockchain technology. We will produce educational content and publicity for ICON through our existing channels.

As the Chief of Community Development at ICX Australia, Marc will be facilitating regular education sessions to assist the community in understanding ICON and its applications as the platform continues to expand. We will operate a technical support channel via Telegram to ensure the smooth introduction of new members to our community, and support developers.

4-Secure Infrastructure

The team at ICX Australia have experience running Tezos, Bitcoin C-Lightning, Bitcoin Lightning, and Bitcoin core nodes, as well as a BTC payment processor using BTCPay software on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

ICX Australia’s Chief of Technology, Steve Daws, has had a career working in information technology security systems. Having worked at some of Australia’s biggest companies, such as ANZ Bank, Cisco Systems, Telstra, SingTel and even the Australian Military, Steve’s understanding of digital security is second to none.

Our current installations use advanced AWS security features including AWS Shield, AWS Route 53, AWS Cloudfront, AWS NAT Gateway, AWS HSM, AWS security Groups, and public and private networks, AWS Glacier for secure remote backup storage, and AWS Cloudwatch for monitoring. AWS is one of the most reliable, secure Cloud platforms and is trusted by IT professionals across the globe.

We will install our ICON production and development nodes and Web front end on AWS EC2 instances behind our existing security controls and within our existing public subnet.

AWS Cloudwatch will be configured to monitor all system availability and performance and will be used to provide our existing operational staff with alerts of any issues. Every four hours a snapshot of the production node will be made, and daily snapshots of the other hosts will be taken and sent to AWS Glacier in an alternate AWS availability zone. This alternate AWS availability zone will be pre configured as a cold standby complete replica of the production environment allowing a full system recovery to be completed in under 30 minutes. All systems will use hardened OS releases and remote management will be via our existing secure private management network.

5-Product Development

As part of ICX Australia’s commitment to deliver 80% of representative rewards back to our community delegates, we require a client portal and automated payouts software.

ICX Australia has existing solutions already functioning on the Tezos network that can be readily adapted to the ICON blockchain, with an expected completion time of within 6 months. In the interim period, all payouts will be calculated and processed manually, and our delegates voting decisions will be determined off chain.

This system, combining applications and databases used to calculate customer balances and payouts, and wallet software used for transfers, will be deployed in a private subnet and will be unreachable from the Internet and firewalled from the public subnet. This functionality is covered by our security proposal.

In addition to actively creating functional applications that all ICON node holders will be able to use to streamline delegation, we will use 10% of representative rewards to support community projects.

6-Open & Inclusive Governance

ICX Australia has learned valuable lessons and gained extensive experience in onchain governance from operating as a validator for the Tezos community. As a result we understand the mechanisms of onchain governance in depth, and will be an asset to the community for educating and organising this process.

ICX Australia are fully aware of the importance of onchain governance as a key factor for ICON to evolve healthily and smoothly. For this reason, we will be dedicating our time and resources to provide a platform that ensures that every single ICX Australia delegate can participate in onchain governance seamlessly.

We vow to represent the interests of our voters and protect what they believe in.

As we will be replicating already functioning architecture and processes, we expect that the a manual form of ICX Australia's governance management system should take one week to implement and integration of this into the client portal around 6 months .

7-Token Economy Development

ICX Australia’s proposal of returning 80% of representative rewards to our delegates creates an interesting and revolutionary offering on top of the ICON Blockchain. A node then becomes a special form of bank account that improves network security while remunerating the community with high interest. The significance of such an offering should not be understated.

ICX Australia, with our existing infrastructure for Tezos staking dividend payments, will build and deliver the smart contracts that will automatically return profits to stakers. This infrastructure will be open sourced and made available to other P-Reps after the election. Examining this offering through the lens of the decentralised finance movement, it is clear that decentralised incentive mechanisms such as node staking will become common alternatives to existing stores of value - an exciting prospect for the team at ICX Australia.

Enterprise expansion is part of ICX Australia's plan to promote the ICON economy. We are aware that the prevailing enterprise mentality is more focused on capabilities and future potential, rather than specific blockchains, using closed networks to gather information.

ICX Australia understands the local Enterprise market. We know who the influencers are, where they gather their information from and how to talk their language.

We will:

  • Represent the ICON community at various conferences and seminars including the 2020 APAC Blockchain Conference.

  • Provide free one time consultancy services to businesses, informing them how they can use ICON to solve business problems

Bringing ICON usability to a currently untapped market, such as Australia, will improve price growth and trend to stability as transaction volume scales with use. ICX’s goal is to introduce more developers, cryptocurrency enthusiasts, and Enterprises to ICON to realise this goal.

Closing

In closing, thank you to the community of ICONists and the ICON core team for giving us this opportunity to serve this amazing community. We hope that you vote for us as part of this election process, and we look forward to bringing value to this great project, as well as expanding our audience to Australian communities.
